  • Board of Child Care - Strawbridge School - 3300 Gaither Road, Baltimore, MD 21244



  • Establish and maintain safe classroom environment by implementing behavior management techniques together with the Teacher.
  • Assist with the planning of the curriculum and, in consultation with the Teacher, implement specific parts of the curriculum.
  • Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by teacher.
  • Assist the Teacher in writing and maintaining required records.
  • Perform other duties, as requested.
  • Participate in case management process for assigned students.
  • Assure that administrative and/or departmental directives are enforced.
  • Substitute for absent teachers as assigned.



  • Demonstrate familiarity with cultural patterns existing within a community which may affect the behavior of children and adolescents
  • Work effectively as a member of a team
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic principles of special education and psychology
  • Establish relationships with children and adolescents on a group and individual basis, gaining their trust and confidence
  • Accept supervision from the Teacher
  • Physically intervene and restrain students, male and female, as necessary.
  • Able to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  • Able to operate agency vehicles, i.e., valid Maryland Driver’s License.
  • Able to work cooperatively with others.



  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field
