ELP Maintenance Technician/ Housekeeper

Position Summary:

To be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the physical plant including ground. To be responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of the physical plant.

Essential Functions:

  • To dismantle machine or equipment to gain access to replace defective parts.
  • To respond to work order requests for service.
  • To paint wall, woodwork and ceilings using paint rollers and brushes.
  • To repair window and door hardware.
  • To measure and install pipe and tubing for gas and water systems.
  • To move furniture and prepare for special events.
  • To remove ice and snow throughout campus.
  • To inspect machinery, buildings, and grounds for defects for future repair.
  • To help in all agency clean up and set ups for functions.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Complete monthly safety inspections.
  • Complete light electrical work.
  • Complete light plumbing issues.
  • To upkeep appearance of the physical plant including, but not limited, to cleaning of bathrooms, sweeping, polishing floors, waxing floors and emptying of wastebaskets, stocking of hygiene supplies, etc.
  • Maintaining housekeeping supplies.
  • General mechanical aptitudes such that the individual can learn to operate machinery within the department.
  • The ability to distinguish one cleaning agent from another.
  • Able to lift full five-gallon pails and mover janitorial equipment.
  • Ensure safety by following the appropriate procedures for opening, closing, and securing the building
  • Manage supply inventory through documentation

Supervisory Responsibility:


Work Environment:

In the nature of being an ELP environment you will be working in areas where young children are present. Courtesy must be given at certain times of the day for nap times/ dining events.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. This position regularly requires flexible and long hours.

Eligible for flex schedule. Essential for snow.


Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • High school diploma and equivalent, plus four year’s experience performing a variety of maintenance and custodial activities.
